Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine is a unique new form of Glucosamine hydrochloride. Sourced from fermented corn it is 100% free from shellfish or animal Ingredients. Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine is greater than 99% pure Glucosamine hydrochloride with no added ingredients.

What is Glucosamine?

Glucosamine is present in almost every human tissue but has a special propensity for cartilage tissue. Glucosamine is an aminomonosaccharide produced naturally in the body by chondrocytes in cartilage to help maintain and build healthy joint tissue. Basically it is food for your joints.

How does Glucosamine hydrochloride work?

Chondrocytes use Glucosamine to produce more cartilage components: collagen, chondroitin sulphate, hyaluronic acid and other joint constituents.

How long until I see any difference?

Glucosamine is not a drug, it is a food. It takes time for your body to incorporate glucosamine into tissue. 4-6 weeks are needed before results are seen.

Glucosamine hydrochloride vs. Glucosamine sulphate

There is much debate on which form of glucosamine is most desirable. Until Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine became available all glucoasamines were sourced from Chitin, a major component of shellfish. This posed an allergy risk to many consumers. There are two major forms of Glucosamine, the hydrochloride form and the sulphate form. The Hydrochloride form yields 83.1% glucosamine versus the sulphate form with 20% Potassium/sodium chloride that yields only 62.8% glucosamine. The American National Institute of Health (NIH) is using Glucosamine hydrochloride in its $US14 million study into glucosamine.

Are there any cautions when using Glucosamine?

As Melrose Plant sourced Glucosamine is 100% free from shellfish or any animal ingredients it avoids the allergy risk associated with other Glucosamine products. There are no other known side effects of Glucosamine.
