Thompson's Kelp 1400mg 120 tabs

The clean coastal waters of New Zealand’s Otago Coast are the source of Thompson’s high potency Kelp. New Zealand’s coastal waters are clear of both pollutants and radioactive isotopes. This is not the case for seaweeds from other parts of the world, some of which can be shown to have isotopes of Iodine, Uranium and other radioactive materials, often originating from Chernobyl. Because of a lack of industrial pollution in the region, Thompson’s Kelp is also free of all petrochemical materials.

The species of Kelp used, Macrocystis pyrifera, grows around the southern North Island, the South Island and islands such as Stewart Island. The leaves and stem of Macrocystis are harvested by hand and sun dried in the clear air of the East Coast. Sun drying is considered a superior form of processing, as it ensures retention of full nutrient value.

This kelp has been awarded full BioGro registration, the mark of the New Zealand Biological Producers and Consumers Council. BioGro registration is a guarantee that the product meets the highest international standards of manufacture and production, and certifies that the produce has been harvested using organic methods that comply with strict environmental standards.

Thompson’s Kelp is particularly useful as a well-absorbed multi-mineral supplement. Macrocystis Pyrifera is especially rich in Iodine, Potassium and Calcium and a range of Trace Elements. Thompson’s Kelp is also an excellent source of viscous fibre that helps lower bowel transit time, absorb toxins from the bowel and regulates colonic bacteria.

Adults - Two to three tablets a day (with food), or as professionally prescribed.

Indications for Use top

As a rich source of Iodine, Thompson’s Kelp can have a powerful effect on the thyroid gland and, thus, on metabolism in general and the mobilisation of fats in particular. It also acts as a gentle diuretic, that helps to reduce fluid retention.

In the U.S.A. seaweed has recently been recognised as being useful in heart problems. This is due, in part, to the ratio of Potassium to Sodium in Macrocystis Pyrifera, which is particularly high. Because the average Western diet is high in Sodium, the body requires extra Potassium to balance it. If Potassium is in short supply it will be drawn from body fluids, most notably from heart muscles.

Thompson’s Kelp is beneficial to heart health and to membranes surrounding the brain and spinal chord. It is also useful for hair loss, goitre, ulcers and obesity. Thompson’s Kelp is beneficial to the thyroid gland, in general, and may help protect against the effects of radiation.
